Spring rolls are a staple of Asian cuisine that has conquered tables around the world. Originally from China, these crispy bites were traditionally made during the Spring Festival to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Today, their versatility and flavor have made them a favorite both as appetizers and main dishes. This homemade recipe lets you enjoy their freshness, golden texture, and savory filling with simple ingredients.


Ingredients
(for 10-12 rolls)

  • 10–12 spring roll or filo wrappers

  • 1 grated carrot

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage

  • 1 cup bean sprouts

  • 2 chopped green onions

  • 1 minced garlic clove

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Vegetable oil for frying

Preparation

  1. Sauté the garlic and vegetables in sesame oil for 2–3 minutes. Add soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Let cool.

  2. Place a spoonful of filling on each wrapper, roll tightly, and seal with water.

  3. Fry the rolls in hot oil until golden brown.

  4. Serve with sweet and sour or soy sauce.
