Traditional Seafood Paella: Authentic Spanish recipe

A classic Spanish rice dish packed with seafood and Mediterranean flavor.
Seafood paella is one of Spain’s most beloved dishes, especially along the Mediterranean coast. This vibrant recipe blends rice with fresh seafood like mussels, squid, and shrimp, seasoned with saffron and fish broth — a true taste of coastal tradition.

Ingredients (serves 4):

  • 400 g bomba rice

  • 200 g squid

  • 200 g shrimp

  • 500 g mussels

  • 1 grated tomato

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 garlic clove, chopped

  • 1 l fish broth

  • A pinch of saffron threads

  • 1 tsp sweet paprika

  • Olive oil, salt and pepper

  • Lemon to serve

Preparation:

  1. Sauté garlic, tomato, and bell pepper.

  2. Add squid and rice, stir.

  3. Mix in paprika and saffron, pour in hot broth.

  4. Cook 10 minutes, then add shrimp and mussels.

  5. Cook 8–10 more minutes until liquid is absorbed.

  6. Let rest 5 minutes, serve with lemon.
